I don't recall who started it but I've seen a few bloggers posting their oldest UFO's. I'm ashamed to admit it but my oldest UFO is from 1990! That's the year my youngest daughter was born - and since she was born in December we can assume this UFO is older than she is!
These blocks were from a block party at the guild I belonged to years ago. Some are hand pieced and some are machine pieced. I don't know why I didn't put them together at the time (maybe having a new baby and 2 other children under 5 had something to do with it???) My goal is to put them together this year and send the top out to be quilted. Then again, if I wait another year and 9 months I could make it an even 20 years!

The colors are very trendy now - I keep seeing blue and brown everywhere I go.
This proves my theory that fabric will last and it never goes off...LOL...the blocks are lovely.
Hee, hee - I've got you beaten by a year. My oldest is from 1989 - and will probably be continuing to age for another 10 years or so before it is finished. I think it will be my longest, long term project.
Well, I guess that's one good thing about only having been quilting for about ten years--you certainly have me beat! ROFLOL! That's a good question though--what my oldest UFO is. Maybe I'll have to go rummage though my "to be quilted" basket and see--normally I can at least get them to THAT stage, although I do have a few baggies of swapped blocks.
I gave all my ufo's 2 years ago to Lorre...
she finished them and I was so happy to have them out of my house!
now I have new ufo's but they will be finished someday!
the best way to not start any new projects is to make a deal with your self you can't start a new one to you finish one or two...
and stay off the blogs so your not inspired to start yet another one!
hope all is well...

Gosh Caryn -- I'm impressed that you can even put a date on your oldest UFO. I'd have to figure out which of mine are oldest first, and then figure out when they came from -- not sure I could do it LOL!
