Civil War Blocks and a Giveaway!

It is my week to pick the Civil War blocks so here are my picks:

Diary:
Misfortune pg. 125
Bull Run pg. 195
Hand Grenade pg. 131
United No Longer pg. 253
Bolts of Fabric pg. 179

Love letters:
My Greatest Trial pg. 189
Tents of the Enemy pg. 43

I tried to pick a nice balance of challenging/time consuming and easier/quicker blocks. As always, these are merely suggestions!

When you buy the Civil War books and/or CD's from the author she sends you a piece of fabric with 3 Abe Lincoln heads that are shown in the book in various blocks (see Old Abe Lincoln block in the diary book for example). Since I bought both CD's from her I received a total of 6 Abe heads. I only plan to make one quilt combining blocks from both books and I think 6 Abe blocks would be too much....

So.... I've decided to share the Abe wealth and give away the other 3 Abes. To share the wealth as much as possible I will give one Abe each to 3 people picked at random (and maybe another little surprise as well). If you would like an Abe, leave a comment on this post saying that you would like to win an Abe. Comment by midnight (EST) Thursday, March 27 and I will post a winner on Friday.

Have a pieceful day!

Oh, Caryn!

When I saw this block at other quilter's blog, I was wondering how she came up with this picture. Then I was going to print out Lincoln's picture on the photo fabric to make this block. Hope you will pick me on this!!

How is your hand by the way?

Hi! I'm with Takako - I thought each quilter who had included Abe's head had scanned him in from the picture and printed him out on calico - I was very impressed with such dedication to repdroducing the block :-) Now I know! I would love to share one of your Abe heads.

Oh wow! I would love to be included. I was wondering how everyone was getting the Abe fabric - I figured it was printed out somehow. Thanks for your generous giveaway. Maybe I will be lucky. I found you from Kathie's blog.

Wow good deal, I don't need the Abe's though as Kathie shared a few with me. They should go to others who need one.

But question...do you have Rosemary's website? I looked to buy the cd's from her but never found her site, so I went with another source.

Caryn, What a generous idea. Now tht I am working on these blocks again I would find a home for Abe. Count me in for the drawing. I found you from Kathie's blog. What fun to share this process.
Thanks, Ardis

This is very genourous of you. I would very much like to take a chance to winning an Abe. I know exactly what I will do with it if I do. My mom's favorite president ia Abe so she will receive a nice wall hanging if I should be lucky enough to win. Thanks.

I would love to win an Abe. I just recently got my 2 books and had no idea that the author was giving out Abe with a purchase. Oh well, live and learn.

I just discovered the civil war blocks and, like the others who commented, thought the other quilters had scanned his picture onto fabric. I have recently learned to paper piece (thanks to Judy) which seems key to making these blocks. I am just starting to collect civil war fabrics, so would love to win an Abe to use in the quilt I will be starting soon. Thanks for your offer of the Abe drawing!

Hi,
I would also like to order some items directly from the author, but couldn't find how to do that on the net. Thanks for the nice give away.

I'd love the chance to win a piece of Abe fabric. That block wouldn't be the same without his picture!
